South Park City is an open-air museum located at the west end of Front Street in the town of Fairplay in Park County, Colorado. Open from May 15 through October 15, the museum is a historic reconstruction of a mining town from the days of the Colorado Gold Rush and the later Colorado Silver Boom in South Park in the late 1850s through the 1880s.
You can drive part way to the site, then hike the remainder in summer or ski it in winter. In the valley are 2,000-year-old bristlecone pine trees. Established in 1964 by the USDA Forest Service, the Bristlecone Pine Scenic Area protects an unusual stand of wind-sculpted bristlecone pine trees. Growing at 11,700 feet, some trees are over a thousand years old. Accessible only during the summer months.
At 10,580 feet, the South Park is the highest saloon in the U.S.A. Check out the great food, spirits, live music and atmosphere. Take-out and catering are available and so are shirts and hats. Look forward to seeing you here.
During the winter months, immerse yourself in a winter wonderland. Hit the slopes at world-class ski resorts like Breckenridge (19 mi), Keystone (32 mi), and Copper Mountain (34 mi), where powder-covered peaks offer exhilarating downhill thrills.
